Laundry Room Updates

Hi friends!

Here to bring you an update on the laundry space that we have been working on! We’ve been working hard for a few weeks to get things prepped before our new washer and dryer are delivered. Here’s a reminder of where we started:

And here’s a look at the end goal:

We started by clearing out the space and removing the cabinets and the cheap plantation shutters. You can see that process here. After this was done, we had a few other hiccups we had to deal with.

We ended up hiring a handy man to deal with some things we didn’t feel comfortable doing on our own. Specifically, some of our plumbing was very old. The hot/cold lines were rusted over and also we had a piece of cardboard that was painted the same color as our wall covering a large hole in our drywall. We didn’t know this since it was being blocked by our W/D. We haven’t done much drywall repair at this time, and we weren’t willing to take the time to try and figure it out this time around because we were trying to get our new W/D installed in a timely manner. It’s always okay to hire someone, even if you like to DIY! Sometimes your time is a higher priority. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Then, I had my husband install what I thought would be a very simple dryer vent release for easy cleaning, however due to how the existing vent hole was cut, it turned out not to be so simple. A DIY not going smoothly? Go figure! He was able to cut some eventually rig something up to make it work, but it was days of figuring it out.

After all this was done, I painted the space Alabaster by Sherwin Williams to brighten up the space. Between the plantation shutters being removed and the brighter paint color, this room already looks so much bigger and brighter! I wanted this to be more of a neutral wall color because there are other elements I want to bring into the space, like wood tones, creams, and greens. Alabaster is such a beautiful creamy white! We used this in our powder room, so we already had this paint, which made it a no-brainer.

Here’s a reel I posted so that you can see all the progress, since obviously I did a terrible job taking stills during this process. πŸ€ͺ

Next up is installing the peel and stick flooring from Wallpops x Chris Loves Julia. I am SO stinking excited for these. They arrived and they look like such amazing quality! I can’t wait for you all to see!
