2025 Word of the Year
Hi friends!
It’s been a bit. I feel like I say that on repeat over here. π Well, it’s time that actually changed.
This year my word of the year is FOCUS. A little background on how I came to this word…
I have been wanting to grow in the social media space, and for periods I did relatively quickly (for me, anyway), and then it slowed a lot. Engagement and views were low. I’m sure there are things I am doing wrong and tricks that many other creators use to increase all of that. But honestly, I am not there for the rat race. I want people to find me that want to be there not because I share a million and one products, but because they enjoy my home and me. I want people to feel empowered to get out of their comfort zone – whether that is learning a new skill or starting an IG page. I want people to find inspiration from my home and what I share. I want people to feel like they are talking with a girlfriend in stories. I want people to just come hang out! Because for me that’s what my social pages are all about – connecting! So rather than post for the sake of posting daily, I am going to focus on high quality content and posting things that I think will be more helpful to my audience. And this year, I want a large part of that to be my blog. Because again, social media changes so rapidly and views come and go. But my blog will always be here and be a landing place for people.
Another area of focus is my home and family. Last year I felt like I started out well with being content with the way things were going, but the perfectionist, driven, stubborn person I am made me want to try to grow more on socials. I did do a better job managing my time and content than my first year, but still there are days where I am not as present as I’d like to be with my kids, and others where things in my home just fell by the wayside. This year I want to put more energy into my kids outside of school hours and creating a home environment that’s minimalistic and less stressful for everyone. I want to find routines that help with that as well. Instagram will always be a thing, but it’s not the *most* important thing. Far from it, in fact. So I’m working on being okay with whatever growth I have because, hey, growth is growth and it’s pretty awesome being able to connect with people. I know that often gets lost in many ways the larger your audience is.
That being said, next fall my younger son will be in Kindergarten, so I will officially have two kids in full-time school. That means I have more opportunities to help my family financially. So my next area of focus is what I am going to do for work. It is my goal to get my virtual design business up and running early in 2025. It was my hope to start it late fall this year, but then the holiday season just really got the best of me and I found it hard to manage everything. So here’s to putting that at the forefront of what needs to get done! Depending on how that goes, I may find other avenues to assist. I am not sure that I am completely done with PT, but if I do go back, I know I want to figure out a way to work with kids on a part-time basis. TBD. But, obviously it’s a year that will very much be in transition and I’d like to try to have an idea by the summer of what that might look like.
So that’s it! My word of the year: Focus. I would love to hear yours if this is something you do! I’m always looking for inspiration for years to come. Or, are there any specific goals that you have? Let me know so I can cheer you on!
Speak soon, friends!
