Boy Bedroom Inspo Boards by Liska Living

Hey, all!

Both my boys had birthdays in February, and instead of doing traditional gifts we are going to update their bedrooms! Both rooms are living in baby stage still and need a change. Up until this point, their rooms have been pretty “meh”. We have just a standard metal bed frame that came with the mattress and box spring, a little bit of decor on the walls, but now that they are older, have more personality and more of a say in things, I think it will be fun to make their rooms feel like them!

Here’s our starting point for both their rooms:

Their rooms are mirror images of each other, so I’d like them to have the same elements for the most part, while making them unique to their little personalities! I have different color schemes for both of them that I feel like suit them and incorporate some of their favorite colors. They both love superheroes and sports, so we will probably generally go with those themes, but heavier on one for each room. I want to replace their lackluster bed frames with something a little more modern that I think will still work as they get older. I want to get similar bedding, but again, work with their personalities/interests. And then same with artwork, adding elements that feel like them and will make their rooms a place they want to spend time and get excited about!

One thing that they desperately need is some shelving. They have SO many knick knacks and things that, despite my best efforts, they will not part with. I would love to have some kind of vertical shelving unit with hidden storage for toys. I do love this unit from IKEA. I’ve seen it in person and it is a great size. Currently we have these units from Target and have these baskets in them, so it works for now, in which case adding shelves above them might be more on the docket. They also both love their accessories (think hats and sunglasses) so having a place to store and/or display them is something I think will be fun to add.

Here are some mood boards that I am sharing and that I think will work for them for a long time – which is ideal so that we’re not constantly feeling like we need to upgrade! I’ll include links for all the items below as well.

Things are already underway in my oldest’s room, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram and/or TikTok! I would love to know your thoughts in the comments!

LINKS:

Here I’m including links that aren’t linkable through my LTK shop.

IKEA Dressers — I love these and honestly prefer them to my own! They have amazing storage and they are made out of wood. Easy to DIY if you wanted a different look!

The baskets shown here are no longer sold at Target, but linking similar in the post!

**These are commissioned links. Please know that I only make a very small commission from these links and your support is greatly appreciated!
