2024 Word of the Year

Hi, friends!

Yeesh, it’s been a minute…πŸ˜…

Two years ago I started doing a “Word of the Year” because I felt like it was a great way to create an overarching goal, and I could sort of set smaller ones from there.

Last year my word was “maximize.”Β Honestly, I didn’t think I did a great job πŸ˜… but the more I thought about it, the more I realized what I had done to work toward this. I did work on maximizing my time, although it took me until the latter half of the year — I paid more attention to my calendar and tried to plan things ahead of time. I organized and made spaces more functional in my home. On the other hand, I haven’t posted anything on my blog since July 🫣 which I was hoping to do more with! BUT…Part of that is because I made an Amazon shop page (which took a lot of work) and worked on growing my Collective Voice page.Β

Maybe it’s my age or having kids or both, but this year as much as I still want the same things as last year, I also feel like I am always go, go, go and want to slow down a bit. So my word of the year is β€œcontentment.” I am constantly designing in my head — new spaces, reimagining spaces, but financially I know it’s not realistic to do every project I want to right now. My kids are little and I don’t want to rush that. So taking time to recognize being content in my home and appreciating what we have and where we are in life is my goal. Same with my blog and my social media. Don’t get me wrong, I do want to continue to make progress in our home and grow my social media follow in order to gain new opportunities that a smaller following doesn’t allow, but I also want to be clear that I appreciate greatly all of my followers! The fact that people choose to follow me, whether it’s for home inspiration, mom life, or just to support me and my goals, is truly such an amazing feeling and I don’t take it for granted any day. But overall, I just want to be intentional with my time, my money, my projects, etc.

Do you set goals or set a word of the year? I would love to know what yours are so please share in the comments! I take notes for future years if I see something I like, or I add it to a list to work toward in the current year if it aligns with my word of the year. And don’t forget, if what you choose at the beginning of the year doesn’t continue to align with your goals, you can change it! Maybe your year heads in a direction you never knew it would, and that’s okay.

Either way, I hope you have a happy, healthy start to your new year and hopefully I’ll be more consistent with my blog posts next year! πŸ™ƒ
