Master Bedroom Makeover

Hi, friends!

Welcome to part 1 of our Master Bedroom Makeover! When we moved into our home 3 years ago, we had 90% of our home professionally painted, including our master bedroom. We had it painted “Sea Salt” by Sherwin Williams, which I do really love and think is a great light green with gray undertones. This master bedroom has really been on the back burner in terms of projects around our house — We have one picture on the wall and I haven’t really loved any of the different linens we have had on the bed. I haven’t added any fun details anywhere! However, the longer we have lived here and finished other projects, the more I have wanted this to be a space I want to spend time in! So, for phase 1 of this project, I decided to paint the wall our bed is on more of a bold color. We painted it “Dark Olive” by Benjamin Moore and to say I love it is an understatement! It is SUCH a pretty green.

Phase 2 will include switching out linens/textiles and lamps, adding a rug and more artwork. I found this beautiful print from Collection Prints that I plan on putting above our bed.  I think it will pull in so many of the colors that I am planning to use in our bed linens and I absolutely love this picture. Water is so calming to me and I have always LOVED the mountains (we actually lived in Colorado for 2 years before kids)! Currently, we have a light grey duvet cover, but I have always LOVED the look of white. So I will be switching that out as well as our pillow covers and adding some throw blankets for visual interest and function — all inexpensive ways to get a different look!

After that, I am planning to paint the rest of our room either Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore or Repose Grey by Sherwin Williams. I plan on adding more detail to our feature wall as well. I’m thinking of either doing a board and batten or a picture framing. I would love to hear from you on this in the comments!

I’d also love a lighter colored rug to bring in some more texture and brightness to the room (we have to large trees in front of our windows!) and likely some kind of bench to put in front of our bed.

I’m excited for it all to eventually get pulled together to see the final look! Stay tuned for more…

P.S. This reel gives you a little bit of the look I’m going for!
